Joey and Kelly Dixon, formerly of Roswell, are the first residents at Echelon, Home of the Georgia Tech Club. Echelon consists of 230 estate homesites, each over one acre in size on approximately 610 acres located in North Atlanta’s "horse country" near Alpharetta. Tom Campbell of Campbell Homes, Inc home built the Dixon home. The 8,200-sq.-ft. home overlooks the first fairway of the Georgia Tech Club golf course, designed by Rees Jones.
"We’re proud to have the Dixons as our first residents, and we enthusiastically welcome them," said Trip Shine, general manager of Echelon. "Echelon is well on its way to becoming one of the premier home communities in the Southeast. The Dixons appreciated the lifestyle the community offers and they couldn’t wait to start living here."
The Georgia Tech Club within the Echelon community will consist of an 18-hole Rees Jones championship golf course, a clubhouse including a golf pro shop, dining area, club lounge, health club area and locker rooms. The golf clubhouse is being designed by Georgia Tech alumnus Niles Bolton. Niles Bolton Associates has been responsible for some of the finest clubhouse designs not only in the Atlanta area but also across the country. There will also be a Tennis Club designed by former U.S. Open and Wimbledon champion, Stan Smith, and a Swim Center.
Joey Dixon was a member of the Georgia Tech golf team in 1985 through 1987. One of the years Dixon played the Tech team was ranked number one in the country. Fellow team members included Charlie Rymer, Bill MacDonald, Jay Nichols, Bob McDonnell and Nacho Gervas.
"The home is good for us both in terms of its character, which is traditional, as well as its features," said Kelly Dixon, a realtor with Coldwell Banker. "The kitchen has two islands. There is an outdoor fireplace, which we’ve always wanted, a finished terrace level, laundry facilities downstairs and on the upstairs bedroom level, but most importantly, the basement is large enough to accommodate our home offices. We both work out of the home so that was a critical component. Everything in the home is the way we want it; it’s in a great community that will have useful amenities; the golf course will be world class, and we thought we got a good value. We couldn’t be happier."
As a strategic partner, The Georgia Tech Club has an affiliation with Georgia Tech through a license agreement with the Alumni and Athletic Associations that entitles direct marketing access to alumni, boosters, supporters and friends.
Troon Golf of Scottsdale, Arizona will manage the Club. Troon Golf is one of several Strategic Partners on the University Clubs by Melrose team, and the country’s most respected golf management company. Troon Golf facilities have become synonymous with extraordinary golf worldwide.
The developer of Echelon and the Georgia Tech Club is University Clubs by Melrose, an affiliate company of The Melrose Company. A recreational community and club development company, The Melrose Company has active projects in Utah, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Georgia, Indiana and Texas. Since it's founding in 1984, the Melrose Company has created from raw land over $500 million in homesites and memberships.
