The Melrose Company is the largest and most active recreational and residential community developer in South Carolina. Since its founding in 1984, it has created from raw land over $500,000,000 in retail homesites, memberships and houses. These products have been sold to over 7,000 individual customers.
The companys first project, the Melrose Club on Daufuskie Island, South Carolina characterized what was to follow. From the time the club was introduced, it was credited as one of the most ingenious real estate developments in decades.
The purchase of the 4,000-acre Hilton Head Plantation quickly followed once the Melrose Club was well underway. The companys invaluable knowledge of Hilton Head Island and thorough understanding of market needs led to the creation and marketing of such projects as the Country Club of Hilton Head, the islands only full-service, family oriented country club; Main Street, a retail, commercial and entertainment center; The Cypress of Hilton Head Island, a continuing care retirement community; and Oyster Reef Golf Club, a traditional, private golf club.
After the companys 1991 acquisition of Indigo Run, the last major residential development on Hilton Head, the company expanded into new markets, including Lake Nona, Orlando, Florida; Aspen Glen, Garfield County, Colorado; and Pinewild, Pinehurst, North Carolina.
One of the many aspects of The Melrose Company that sets it apart from other developers is its ability to control and coordinate all aspects of a project from feasibility studies to the day-to-day operations of the project once it is complete.
The company includes highly skilled professionals involved in real estate and residential amenity sales and marketing, property management, and residential and commercial development management.
